Today, 2K Sports announced the “month of NBA 2K” set to kick off October of this year on the Tencent Games portal in China, with NBA 2K Online. NBA 2K Online will present four different game modes, counting NBA Mode, where pretend ballers can create their own avatar and join a NBA team.
Free Mode and Street Mode will allow a more team orientated flair which gives players control of an entire team. Then lastly there is the newly launched Legend Modes which will allow games to form their own team and challenge the NBA greatest stars and legends.
Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports expressed faith into the project by saying, “ We’re extremely excited about the progress that Tencent and Visual Concepts have made with NBA 2K Online.’ Argent then went on to say, “This milestone is a significant achievement for both teams, and the game has already received some very positive responses from players. We’re looking forward to the brand’s continued growth in Asia.
Shanghai’s Tencent and Visual Concepts has co-developed NBA 2K Online . The online service expands and forms upon 2K Sports’ award winning basketball virtual reality in a thrilling MMO presentation. An entirely new RPG aspect will feature activities, such as character personalization, quests, and achievements.
Other features include:
- Various game modes presenting the industries top NBA 2K basketball engine
- Fully-user customizable content for in game players, user created tournaments, and multiplayer teams
- Highly accessible design with keyboard and mouse control
- Strong online community
2K sports recently publicized NBA 2K Everywhere which will allow fans the chance to experience NBA 2K nearly anywhere via a brand new mobile partner application, a social game on Facebook, and a full feature mobile version of NBA 20123 in the app store and android market.
The actually game, NBA 2K13 will be available in the United States October 2, 2012 and internationally October 5, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable (PSP), Wii, and Windows PC. The Wii U version will launched November 18, 2012 along with the system.

I haven’t purchased any sports title outside Fight Night Titles and the first UFC title, but I’m interested in the MMO and RPG aspect this game will present. I haven’t followed basketball heavily since Detroit championship run, but I’m not totally out the basketball scene.
