Konami Digital Entertainment have announced that they will release a Windows PC version of the upcoming sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The game features a new storyline, open-world settings and an expanded cast of characters. Lords of Shadow 2 is said to have vastly improved graphics and visual style via a more powerful, brand new in-house game engine called Mercury Engine 2.
The Windows version of Lords of Shadow 2 is currently being developed by Mercury Steam. The game is said to build upon its critically acclaimed forerunner in every way.
Lords of Shadow covered the origin story of Dracula. The sequel will show Dracula “weakened and yearning for release from his immortal bonds. Dracula will face a range of new and powerful dangers, and so the vampire lord must regain his old powers. His castle is a central part in his attempt to regain his abilities.”
Head of product planning for Konami and Lords of Shadow 2 producer Dave Cox commented on the game explaining that:
“Lord of Shadow successfully rebooted the franchise but now we want to exceed players expectations on what they expect from the sequel.” … “The new game tells a broader tale and it is one that will span centuries. It is a game that pushes whatever format it is on to the absolute limit, and we are delighted that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2’s rich blend of first-class fighting, deep exploration and rich storytelling are set to delight and enthrall PC users, too.
There is a darkness coming and with our new game engine, we hope to deliver something truly special across multiple formats that will set new standards for action adventure games. “
Lords of Shadow 2 is being billed as the”shocking finale” to the Lords of Shadow story. It will be released in 2013 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
