Crusader Kings II Gets a Mercantile Update
Crusader Kings II, Paradox Interactive’s critically acclaimed strategy/RPG, has a third expansion out now. Crusader Kings II: The Republic builds upon the original’s classic and addicting strategy gameplay by making the five great merchant Republics of medieval Europe playable for the first time. With this new DLC, players will have the option to become the head of Venice, Genoa, Pisa, Gotland, or the Hansa. The additional content will also feature dozens of unique new buildings including trading posts and family palaces, a new interface skin, and unique ship models and clothes for Republics.
Paradox Interactive promises that these new elements will change and enrich gameplay by bringing several new strategic elements to the game. Players will now have to guide their Republican dynasty through a world led by monarchy and empires while surviving feuds with other Patrician families. This must be accomplished by building trading posts and controlling the essential coasts and sea lanes of Europe, which must be constantly defended against rival Patricians, Republics, and feudal lords. In order to maintain power, players will also compete in doge elections using their family fortunes to fund campaigns.
Crusader Kings II: The Republic is out now through all major digital download portals for $9.99. Also available are two smaller expansions. Crusader Kings II: Songs of Prosperity will contain three new songs, while Crusader Kings II: Mediterranean Portraits will feature thousands of unique face combinations for both male and female characters. Both pieces of DLC are available through all major digital download portals for $1.99 each.
Patch 1.09 for Crusader Kings II has also been released which brings with it a number of new gameplay tweaks and many bug fixes. To read the complete patch notes go to: forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?657220-1.09-Patch-Notes
