Darksiders II Confirmed As Wii U Launch Title

Darksiders II will be a part of the Wii U launch title crowd, and the Wii U version of Darksiders II will contain some additional content. Maybe this time around Death will actually get to have a mouth. That does seem like a bit of an oversight. I’m guessing the publisher had to make some cuts, and the mouth was the first thing to go. They probably figured that he could speak with his fists, since all main characters in games nowadays are burly men who speak the language of violence. It’s especially sad because before he was Death, he had a career as an opera singer. In reality, the game will contain an expansion called, “Argul’s Tomb” in addition to the pre-order bonuses included on other editions, adding 5 hours of gameplay and a bunch of new weapons and armor. I suppose that’s cool too.

Since Darksiders II is among Nintendo’s launch titles, I’m hopeful that this the beginning of Nintendo getting back to their roots. You may not remember this since nowadays Nintendo is big into rebooting old franchises by slapping increasingly larger numbers on the titles and making peripherals for the Wii, but about six years ago Nintendo was a company known for gaming. They made fun games that could reach all audiences and would often take risks with their franchises by pushing them in new directions. That’s right, they actually used to focus on making good games. It was a beautiful time in a perfect world. I am a bit worried that all of the consoles now are trying to be home entertainment systems rather than consoles, but as long as they remember that their core fans bought their consoles to play games on, we should be safe. But they probably won’t remember that, so we might be doomed. Either way, the next few years should be fascinating.
