Splinter Cell: Blacklist – The Next Big Game in the Series

The game is to be released sometime around Spring 2013 and is currently in development by Ubisoft Toronto. Splinter Cell: Blacklist is to be released for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC gamers.

; Blacklist continues from the end of Splinter Cell: Conviction when the Third Echelon is terminated and a new group called the Fourth Echelon is created with Sam Fisher as its apparent commander. The newly formed Fourth Echelon is tasked to find the Blacklist, a countdown of series of terrorist attacks to be made on the US that are prepared by 12 rogue terrorists and to hunt them. From what we know, some of the story takes place on the Iran-Iraq border.

;Splinter Cell: Blacklist is to feature a new game play mechanic called “killing in motion” which lets the player who controls Sam, to highlight targets and take them out in a quick fluid movement while on the move. Active sprint also allows Sam to travel through the environment quickly and be able to climb over walls and leap over obstacles to get to his next target. For Xbox 360 users, there will be Kinect integration allowing the player to carry out some of Sam’s abilities like luring enemies using voice commands. Also using Kinect’s voice recognition, players can call in missiles on an area when available.

In the game, there is to be a wide variety of gadgets to use and a new system to make use of while coming up with a plan to execute enemies called SMI (Strategic Mission Interface). This interface helps Sam to choose the best way to move forward and eliminate his enemies. As the game is nearer to being completed, we could expect more features in the game.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist will include a single-player campaign, a co-op mode, and also online multiplayer with modes like spies vs. mercs. The game is also available to pre-order with exclusive bonus content at GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon.com, and other places.
