On June 14th 2013, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the first teaser trailer of World of Diving arrived. It was developed by Vertigo Games, an independant studio. The teaser displays footage of prototype gameplay of World of Diving. With the Indiegogo and Steam Greenlight campaigns making good progress, the trailer is the first actual move by Vertigo Games to gather the helpful feedback and opinions of the expanding community in order to contribute to the diving game’s further development.
The technical director at Vertigo games, Tristan Lambert says, “We’ve never before released gameplay footage this early into the development of a game. Apart from supporting the Indiegogo campaign, it’s goal is mainly to build, connect with, and communicate with the community from the very outset. Instead of community building, we are gathering a building community around World of Diving.
The gameplay teaser sheds light on a few of the fun activities that World of Diving players will have the opportunity to take part in together, as well as taking in the sights and sounds of the virtual fish and the beautiful corals and seaweed in the depths of the ocean. It allows players to experience the uncovering of the abandoned wreck of the “HMS Montebello”. Also, there are fascinating ancient artifacts to collect, as underwater flares startle the sharks.
As well as this, a system of communicating underwater is introduced. This reflects and simulates a real life diving experience, as it is modeled on physical gestures used by professional divers. This enhances the way you interact with fellow players who are part of the diving team.
