Downhill Xtreme Updates Online Mode

The free-to-play longboarding Downhill Xtreme is releasing an update that will revamp online competition along with adding new boards. Longboarding is considered an extreme sport where competitors ride on a longboard (think of a skateboard but shorter than a surfboard) down tracks. They can perform tricks with the longboard similar to other extreme sports games, such as sliding or air brakes. If you need a visual example of what longboarding is (like I did), then you might want to check out some

videos, then download Downhill Xtreme for free so you don’t break any bones.

The update for Downhill Xtreme will make it easier to find players online, new music and boards. Players can now select competitors online grouped in categories, such as World’s Best, local (top ten from your country), skill level (your XP level), and rivals (your own list of riders). Five new songs are added from major artists like We Outspoken or Kidd Russell. The new boards included in this update will contain Stijn Maes’ winning design from the Downhill Xtreme design-a-board contest. Expect to see a Spartan Board as well, a golden longboard with the best specifications in the game.

Even with the included updates above, Downhill Xtreme still has lots of content for a free game to download. The game contains a huge number of unlockable tracks from various locations, like Chile and France. Players can earn XP and gold coins to unlock these tracks, or buy better boards and equipment. Being on a mobile device, the game takes advantage of the tilt controls on the iOS devices so you can turn and race with ease. Beyond that, there are numerous events that take place offline and online, even a weekly “outlaw” event that are available only for a limited time.

Downhill Xtreme is out now on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad as a free download. An Android version is planned for release later this summer.
