The design team of Dragon Kings announced plans to release a PDF rules supplement for Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Savage Worlds system.
“Savage Worlds is a terrific game system,” says lead Dragon Kings creator Timothy Brown. “It’s great for the sort of fast, heroic combat and non-stop action i envision for Khitus (Dragon Kings World). Shane Hensley and everyone at pinnacle are great to work with, too. Its an excellent relationship.”
Shane Hensley, President of Pinnacle Entertainment and designer of the Savage worlds game system added on that, “I’ve been a fan of Tim Brown and Dark Sun since my earliest days as a freelancer. Pinnacle is thrilled to be part of his next creation, and I’m personally looking forward to doing a little work on it as well.”
The new Dragon Kings rule book will be agnostic, and Savage Worlds is the first set of rules to be free upon release of the game. Other systems will be announced at a later date. Savage Worlds is an award winning role-playing and miniatures war game, written by Shane Lacy Hensley, and published by Pinnacle Entertainment Group. The game focuses on speed play and preparing before hand. Several settings for the game include: Evernight, 50 Fathoms, Necessary Evil, Rippers, and Low Life, as well as Deadlands: Reloaded, Tour of Darkness, Necropolis, and Weird War II.
Dragon Kings has also announced the inclusion of the artists Gerald Brom and Thomas Baxa, and cartographer Alyssa Faden for the game book. For the music, talents include former Queensrÿche guitarist Mike Stone and computer industry producer Frank Klepacki.
The universe of Dragon Kings is the spiritual successor to Timothy Brown’s Dark Sun, an award-winning role-playing universe co-designed with author Troy Denning and artist Gerald Brom for the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. The game is a new fantasy world presented in a trans media fashion, with art, music, and fiction. The project is crowd sourced and will eventually expand to other forms of media such as comics and computer games.
The launch will include a hardbound game book, a world gazetteer, lyrics booklet, and a rock CD.
