I should say this is a preview not a review so I will not be using the review bar things. Also if you are reading this after release of Neverwinter then there might be some discrepancies as this is a pre-release version of the game.
Dungeons and Dragons Online has been out for a while and has come a long way since its release on February 19th 2006. The game has very few bugs from my play time in the BETA there was a little lag now and then but it never dropped below thirty frames per second so on the whole very good considering it is BETA. On the whole it is a nice looking game with good characters and creatures designs (because D&D has them). I haven’t played that much D&D tabletop so I can’t compare it to that that well. Also I haven’t played it for that long so I can’t tell you about the free to play model and I can’t be the best judge of the games lifespan.
The gameplay is fast responsive and fun it is a bit like Tera only more fun since the creatures are better and the weapons have more weight behind them. The gameplay works more like a single-player RPG than a MMORPG which is quite an accomplishment. I think it is the second best combat in any MMORPG ever only losing to DC Universe online (seriously play it. It is ridiculously good). I think Neverwinter is a good time to get in to DDO if you are going to.
I played for a fair bit and got up a fair few levels and I didn’t get bored at all it is genuinely good experience and I would recommend it to anyone. It is a great game which anyone should at least give a go. It has a long lifespan and you won’t get bored in that span.
The game looks good for a MMORPG. The looks are good and the graphics and textures behind them are good. The menus, character screens, the inventory shops etc are very smartly put together and very efficiently put together. I think it isn’t as good looking as Tera but is better than other MMORPGs.
I like what I have seen of the story but I haven’t seen that much of the story as it is a MMORPG and needs to have a very long story but it is still fun and an engaging story. It has a fun setting and I really like some of the creation ideas around the towns and cities.
In closing I think that Neverwinter is a good update and will rejuvenate the game it will also add some nice features to the game.
