e:info Games TV: Gamescom 2012

Gamescom might be over for this year, but the crew at e:info games brings you a recap of the events in their latest video.

Welcome to a new installment of e:info Games TV. This episode will let you catch up on the current kernels of information that leaked out of this year’s Gamescom held in Germany. A lot of information was revealed here about the games we’re excited for, and we flew Mark S Taylor down there to keep us in the loop. Today we learned about two upcoming MMOs talked about before on this site, the shooter game with a TV show of the same name and how you can catch every hero in the Marvel universe.

Defiance is a brand new third-person shooter MMO that will be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Nicholas Bellaeff, Senior Vice President, Development of Trion Worlds was able to give us a moment at Gamescom. The game will feature seven alien races holding grudge matches against each other in the remains of Earth. Each alien race (along with humans) have a political influence on the planet, which could be adjusted through PvP action. The game will also be tied with the TV show of the same name on the Syfy channel, starring Grant Bowler and Tony Curran. Look for the TV show and MMO Defiance next year in April.

Next we move on from aliens with guns to muscled men in skin-tight suits in Marvel Heroes. This action MMORPG will let players collect their favorite superheroes from the Marvel universe to duke it out with mutant villain Magneto. Mark was able to get an interview with David Brevik, President, COO of Gazillion and developer of Marvel Heroes at Gamescom. It seems like other villains in the Marvel universe will pose a threat, such as the ominous stance of Dr. Doom holding the energy cube from Captain America: The First Avenger? No release date is announced yet for the game, but we’ll let you know when you can wear your Spider-Man knickers as soon as we know.

Gamescom might be over for now, but it will be back and (possibly) even bigger than this one. More than 275,000 visitors from 83 countries arrived here to see more than 330 global, European and German premieres. Triple-A games on the PC and console were shown off here along with indie, browser and online games. Expect to see more of Gamescom next year in August 2013.
