SteelSeries Partners with Valve for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Peripherals

SteelSeries has created a headset, mouse, and mousepad for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. They have partnered with Valve (yes, that Valve) to create a special series of accessories to launch with the latest installment in the Counter-Strike saga. The Counter-Strike:Global Offensive accoutrements include a headset covered in camouflague, a microphone, and most importantly, a volume and mute control. I’ve been looking to get a new headset just so I can hear all of those swears and gendered slurs in beautiful and crisp detail. For now, I’ll just have to tell the trolls to enunciate.

SteelSeries has also created a mouse that allows custom settings, an optical sensor with speeds of 1,600 -3,200 DCPI, and a sweat resistant coating. It also looks pretty cool because it has little lights in it, and who doesn’t love things that light up. Nobody, that’s who. That’s why I still wear those shoes that light up when you walk. They’ve released a Counter-Strike branded mousepad to go with their mouse, so if you’re looking to replace that crummy notebook you’ve been using as a mousepad, today is the day.

Counter-Strike is a first person shooter based on a popular Half-Life mod. The open beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive began yesterday and the game is expected to be released at the end of September. As far as first person shooters go, Counter-Strike is said to have a higher difficulty curve than Call of Duty, which I think is ridiculous. Nothing ruins your day more than playing a game of team defender in COD and losing horribly only to find the other team is comprised of nothing but 12 year old kids talking about how they have to go to bed soon. I can’t wait until they’re back in school. It’s been a rough summer.
