New DLC is coming to enhance the multi-player game for Spec Ops: The Line, and you won’t have to pay a penny to get it.
Spec Ops: The Line was a surprisingly good single-player game released earlier this year. Sure the shooting mechanic is not as good as other shooter games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Yet Spec Ops: The Line succeeded in terms of interactive storytelling and manipulating the player’s mode of thinking. But like other shooter games, Spec Ops: The Line does contain a multi-player portion where you and your buddies can shoot each other in the sand-covered town of Dubai. Now anyone that owns a copy of the game could get free DLC from YAGER to enhance the multi-player experience.
The new multi-player DLC for Spec Ops: The Line will add a series of objective-based, cooperative scenarios set in the wrecked city of Dubai. Each of the four missions will have their own unique objectives, environments, and playable characters. Both players will have to work together to fight through waves of enemies and blinding sandstorms in order to complete these objectives. But to help you along the way are a variety of weapons and explosives to satisfy any Michael Bay fan out there.
So far the main single-player campaign for Spec Ops: The Line remains unchanged, but it might be worth playing through. The campaign takes place in the ruins of Dubai after a violent sandstorm hits the city. Playing as Captain Martin Walker, players will have to guide Walker and his squad through the city remains and through hostile forces to find Colonel John Konrad and his missing battalion, the Damned 33rd. Spec Ops: The Line has been praised well by several game critics for its narrative, such as PC Gamer saying, “Spec Ops: The Line trades quality gaming for quality narrative and interesting characters.”
Spec Ops: The Line is available now on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The new multi-player DLC is free to download for any console/PC so long as you have an Xbox Live, Playstation Network, or Steam account and an Internet connection.
