Sony Online Entertainment has recently announced that they will be allowing the community of the also recently announced Wikia Lab to participate in the development process of Everquest Next. The Wikia Lab was built to promote fan participation in Major Releases, and was announced in conjunction with the announcement of EverQuest Next at SOE Live. SOE Live is a annual event that celebrates the fans favorite free to play SOE games.and took place in Las Vegas on August 1-4, 2013.
Laura Naviaux, Senior Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing at Sony Online Entertainment said,

Wikia joined us at this year’s SOE Live event with the debut of The Lab so our players were the first to learn how to best take advantage of the Wikia platform and player community.”
During SOE Live, Wikia Stars Daniel Salciccioli (Call of Duty Wikia) and Kenneth Cummings (Brutal Legend Wikia) were giving insight tips on how Everquest Next should create the best fan community for their game. The Lab encourages real time authoring and structuring of content, complementary community integration, as well as design and promotion of news and gameplay experiences that took place at SOE Live.
Wikia introduced the EverQuest Next Official Community at SOE Live which will be used to help promote the game. Members received exclusive content including, early release images, chats with EverQuest Next game developers, frequently updated blogs from the community managers, and more.

Wikia Lab will be the starting place for custom co-development program and will start off with members from the Wikia Stars program. For those of you who may not know, the Wikia Stars program was established in 2012 and consists of a select group of individuals from all around the world who’s exceptional leadership qualities and influence over their communities has been acknowledged. There is a high demand for this program and Wiki is already expecting involvement from over 100 fans leaders who possess talent in content creation, social media, community administration, design, code, and over ingenuity. They will give their intelligent insight on a variety of projects from their conception till release. Stars will receive access to exclusive assets, information, and talent provided by the partnering group. This program plans to focus on Wikia’s gaming community, but will extend to all of its rapidly growing entertainment and life style communities.
