A multimedia guide for the world-famous museum is released on Nintendo eShop
Ever wanted to explore and appreciate the wonders stored in the Louvre, but never managed to get there? Well now Nintendo have the solution to your problem.
Nintendo and the Louvre previously announced a partnership just under two years ago, which saw Nintendo 3DS systems utilised within the museum as interactive guides. Now, Nintendo have announced a new step in the relationship, with the release of an interactive app on the Nintendo eShop, that will allow 3DS owners to explore the museum in the comfort of their own home, as well as in the museum itself.
Nintendo 3DS Guide Louvre utilises the 3D functionality of the handheld to complete change the way that players can interact with the exhibits at the Louvre. The app contains nearly 30 hours of audio commentary, over 600 images of artwork, and over 400 photos of the museum’s decorative interior, including 360° panoramas to make you feel completely engrossed in the museum’s collections. Over 150 of the artworks will be available to view in either 2D, 3D or 3D model form to get as realistic an experience as possible. The option to make your own custom route around the Louvre, and see the artwork in whichever order you would like, only helps to make the experience even more realistic.
The app also has nifty features for if you’re in the museum itself, including ascertaining which room you are in to present the correct information about artwork near to you, and can serve as a guided tour around the museum’s most treasured pieces with the Masterpieces Tour.
Whether you’re at home, or in the Parisian museum, the app is available to update regularly, which will allow users to keep informed about new exhibits or events at the museum.
The app is available right now from the Nintendo eShop, and costs £17.99 to download. Physical versions are also exclusively available from the Louvre museum shop.
