Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorzea was released today for the iOS platform and is available as a free download through the iTunes Store. Libra Eorzea is the official online/offline companion application for the latest Final Fantasy MMORPG, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn. This application can serve as an offline game database that contains all items and gear, quests, NPCs, and achievements in the game. Through the application you can try on gear, review attributes for your character, get some help on the latest quests and a achievements, and more.
Square Enix has also incorporated the ability to log into your own profile, for those who have an active FFXIV: A Realm Reborn account, although the app can still be used without an account or logging in. Linking your account would allow the player to keep track of their character, gear, attributes, quests completion, and achievements all outside of the main game client. Giving the player this type of connection and control over their experience in FFXIV, is a smart move on Square Enix’s part.
That is one thing that many MMORPG’s fail to execute, making the player bond with their character; making all that time spent grinding or questing actually mean something. Adding this little app into the mix seems like a good way to increase FFXIV player-base and create dedicated players. Square Enix’s first MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI, had its own niche of players, but seemed to fail a bit short, perhaps with the aid of this nifty little app and experience from past mistakes, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn may have the potential to be something great.
Libra Eorzea requires iOS 5 or later and works on most apple devices. FFXIV: Libra Eorzea for the Android OS is currently still in development; no date has been announced. Check back with Einfo Games for more news on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and Libra Eorzea.
