Grand Theft Auto V Trailer Shows Off Sweet Tunes from Stevie Wonder

The new Grand Theft Auto V trailer is here, giving gamers a chance to see the setting, characters, and release date for Rockstar’s beloved series. It is pretty amazing to see how this series has changed. You used to just drive around and shoot people since the game had a zany, unhinged feel to it.

Now you can drive around and shoot people all while contemplating the meaning of life and the difficulties encountered by people who aren’t born well off. I suppose this is what happens when the demographic for a game ages. You start getting social commentary mixed up in the gameplay. Before you know it, the game will star men in their 50’s and 60’s encountering issues with their pensions and social security as they try not to break their hips. From the trailer, it looks like players will be able to switch between the stories of three protagonists. It also looks to have the pretty cars, explosions, and crime we’ve come to expect from the series. It’ll be out sometime in Spring 2013, which is good. Rockstar is finally solving the age-old gamer problem of having absolutely nothing to play in the summer. Well, nothing if you don’t count sales on Steam or XBLA Summer of Arcade.

Grand Theft Auto V’s protagonists are Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, who are all fighting to make it to the top for a piece of the American dream. And by American dream, I mean money, because who doesn’t love money? The game will take place in Los Santos, a fictional city that is loosely based on Los Angeles. If you didn’t catch all that from the trailer, don’t worry. The soothing and funky sounds of Stevie Wonder can often overwhelm the untrained ear.
