Toylogic today announced that their popular XBLA title Happy Wars will be getting another title update that adds a host of features.
Happy Wars is mutiplayer game that pits up to 30 players against each other in a cutesy cartoonish setting. Gamers can choose from a variety of different characters as they engage in large-scale battles that involves throwing spells at each other and sieging castles as depicted in the game’s trailer:
The 4th title update for the game is intended to build on the core game with new mechanics and a few tweaks. First and foremost is the Special Match Mode, which features modes with unique twists setting them apart from the stock standard gametypes. Playing games in this mode will also give players a chance to unlock rewards that aren’t available in classic multiplayer. The first Special Mach Mode is Save the King, in which players must push into the enemy’s castle with a player controlled King in tow, with the first king to reach the castle being crowned as the victor. When controlling the king, players must utilise their staff to knock aside the enemy defenders.
The second change in the update brings about some tweaks to the item system. Players will now be able to upgrade their favoured items to level 15 from the previous limit of level 10. The existing item pool will also receive six new items including three sticker types, a Star Fragment and two free passes that allow other items to be used at no charge. Information on these items will be available in the Item Encyclopedia, an addition that will give players access to information on all items in the game.
Toylogic has also added two new customisation slots to the game, allowing players to mix and match the parts and items on their characters. This is intended to give gamers more strategic choice and the ability to react to in game situations.
Happy Wars is currently available for free to anyone with an Xbox Live Gold account and will receive more free updates in the future.
