HB Studios’ The Golf Club looks to fill the void this Spring
In a rather surprise and unexpected turn of events it turns out there will be a golf game this year. With EA Sports announcing that there will be no Tiger Woods game this year, golf fans were left with no golf game for next gen for the time being. Well, not anymore. HB Studios has stepped up and announced The Golf Club. The Golf Club will be releasing this Spring on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Here is a gamplay trailer of The Golf Club:
Since we are just hearing of The Golf Club we don’t know a whole lot about it, but what we do know is that – much like just about every next gen game announced so far – The Golf Club is striving to be a fun, social experience. The Golf Club will feature a course creator that will allow players to create a course from scratch. You can share those courses with your friends, compete with your friends, and with other players online as well.
Also, The Golf Club is looking to please hardcore fans by delivering a realistic experience, but one that is accessible to players that aren’t very familiar with golf games. Plus, you can expect The Golf Club to nail the loading times. HB Studios says there will be “minimal to zero loading times” which is interesting because that was one of the problems I had with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. You can check out that review here.
All in all, I’m intrigued about this game. I like the fact that this game will feature customizable courses; a lot of design options. I’m liken it to something like LittleBigPlanet. Not having any real courses though is a concern. That’s one of the big selling points of the EA Sports franchise. Playing at Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass, St. Andrews, etc. But, it’s all about the gameplay. If The Golf Club can deliver in the gameplay department they will carve themselves out a hardcore, niche audience.
