The individual known as SuperDaE, who was behind several leaks of the next generation Xbox 720, including selling a development kit on eBay, mentions he was raided by police through Microsoft.
Microsoft apparently had issued a warrant for the person under the username SuperDaE, who contained development kits of the next generation Xbox console dubbed the Xbox 720 or Durango.
However a statement from Microsoft said it had no participation in the recent raid on SuperDaE. The Australian person has been releasing leaked details about the upcoming console on the web.
It was last week it was reported SuperDaE had been raided by FBI and Australian police. According to Microsoft, it is not responsible for the investigation.
“Microsoft did not initiate this FBI investigation with this individual, as has been asserted in some of the articles in the media,” said a Microsoft spokesperson.
“We take security very seriously and have no evidence of any compromise of our corporate network. We have no further comment on this matter.”
Although Microsoft has denied involvement in the raid, the warrant – posted by TheTechGame – mentions the tech company by name.
SuperDaE was associated to an eBay auction of the suspected next-generation Xbox development kit. The seller on a second Durango PC dev kit was listed “superdae”, and at AU $50,000.
“Police raided me,” SuperDaE tweeted this morning, claiming that 7-8 officers turned up with an FBI agent. “I find it hilarious how the warrant only really mentions ‘Microsoft’, ‘eBay’, ‘Paypal’.”
SuperDaE recently claimed that the next-generation Xbox will need a Kinect sensor to be plugged in at all times to function.
Previous to that, SuperDaE posted the initial images of what appeared to be a development list for Kinect 2.
To what becomes of SuperDaE is unclear at this time, we will follow it up once we hear more on the story.
