More content for the Grand Theft Auto V Collector’s Edition and Special Edition have been announced, including new items for the three main characters, as well as exclusive rewards in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto Online mode.
Previously announced for the Special Edition is a blueprint map of the game area, Los Santos and Blaine County, and a steel-book with exclusive artwork, while the Collector’s Edition includes all of this, as well as a snapback cap emblazoned with the Los Santos and Rockstar Games logos, a collectible outer box and a security deposit bag featuring a Rockstar Games logo. In comparison, the new items are in-game digital rewards, rather than physical real-world objects, but the new content will offer a wide variety of boosts to the player when Grand Theft Auto V is released on September 17th. Here are the details for the in-game extras available only with the Collector’s and Special editions of the game:
Special Ability Boost: Each of the three main characters, Franklin, Michael and Trevor, has their own special ability to exploit. The drug-riddled, unstable Trevor can enter a rage that doubles the damage that he deals, whilst also having the amount of damage that he takes, while Franklin can slow down time while driving any road vehicle to make it easier to weave amongst traffic and get away from pursuers such as the cops. Michael, on the other hand, is an excellent shot, and his special ability allows players to slow down time during gunfights to give players extra time to pick off enemies. To unleash these abilities, players have to fill the Special Ability bar, and with the special and collector’s editions, this bar fill 25% quicker allowing players to gain these important abilities more regularly than regular players.
Extra Outfits and Tattoo Discounts: The three main characters will each receive an exclusive special edition outfit each, plus an extra article of clothing (such as a jacket for Trevor), an exclusive haircut, facial hair style and tattoo per character. These items will be available from wardrobes without needing to be bought in game, though players do also receive a 20% discount from all shops across Los Santos and Blaine County if they purchase the Special or Collector’s editions.
Additional Weapons: Ammu-Nations will be stocked with two extra weapons, the .50 Caliber Pistol and the Bullpup Shotgun, which will have their own customization options and skins, and will come at no additional in-game cost to the player. Players will also get access to the Hammer as a brutal melee weapon for when it’s necessary to get up-close and personal.
Stunt Plane Trials: The Collector’s and Special editions entitle players to take to the skies in heart-stopping Stunt Plane trials over Los Santos and Blaine County. Players unlock five challenges to try and complete by soaring through checkpoints scattered across the game area. There are online leaderboards so players can compete against their friends for the top score, and successfully completing the challenges will also improve the piloting skill of the main characters.
There are also some benefits that are exclusive to the Collector’s Edition of Grand Theft Auto V. The majority of these benefits apply only to Grand Theft Auto Online, a multiplayer service that will launch on October 1st and is included with all copies of the game. The online mode allows players to engage in the usual multiplayers modes like Deathmatches and Races, whilst elements of economic warfare and stock market exploitation have also been announced. For example, players can invest in a particular car manufacturer, and then go around Los Santos destroying all of that manufacturer’s cars to encourage more to be produced and more money to be generated by the players stocks. Rockstar Games have also announced that they will be continuing to provide support and content for Grand Theft Auto Online in the future.
These are the exclusive bonuses for Collector’s Edition customers:
Vehicles and Garage Bonuses: The Collector’s edition comes with bonus vehicles for the Grand Theft Auto V game itself in the form of a sports bike, the CarbonRS, and the Hotknife: a hotrod straight out of the 1930’s. Players are also given an exclusive garage in which to store these new vehicles. Collector’s Edition owners also get exclusive Grand Theft Auto Online content in the form of the Khamelion electric car, as well as the ability to import the garage and other vehicles into the GTA Online World via a player’s Online character’s phone.
Exclusive Character Creation Options for GTA Online: The GTA Online character creation system is unique in that you create your character by selecting their parents’ heritage. Players can then control how dominant each parent’s heritage is on your character to alter your character’s appearance in favour of one parent or the other. Collector’s Edition customers will have the option to select GTA IV’s Niko Bellic as a parent, as well as Claude and Misty from GTA III.
Both the Collector’s and Special Editions are available to pre-order now in time for the release of Grand Theft Auto V on 17th September. Don’t miss out!
