Gazillion Entertainment dropped some new details about the story features of Marvel Heroes. I know that there is a lot of love and hype around DC games, since Batman: Arkham Asylum knocked it out of the park, but there’s a special place in my heart for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. It was a lot of fun, and Marvel Heroes looks to me a bit like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I always opted to play as Wolverine, mostly because he has fabulous facial hair and was able to convincingly use the word “bub.” Snik snik bub.
The trailer reveals that the big bad guy in Marvel Heroes is Dr. Doom. Completely unsurprising to any Marvel fan, since there are only three interesting bad guys in the Marvel universe: Dr. Doom, Galactus, and Magneto, and I would only half-heartedly argue that Magneto is a villain.
You shouldn’t oppress the mutants! In Marvel Heroes Dr. Doom is up to no good, but what else are you going to do if your last name is Doom? No one wants to buy candy from a guy named Doom. Apparently in Marvel Heroes he’s found himself a cube and is going to do evil things with it, like you do. The devs behind this game are riding the “cube used for evil” thread that’s been used in Transformers, Thor, and even Tales of Suspense #79. While figuring out what Doom will do with the cube, players will get to interact with a number of famous Marvel characters. Hopefully Asbestos Lady will make it in there somehow. I dig her costume.
