New Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance gameplay trailer

New Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance gameplay trailer

I’m going to rush to my main question about the trailer and ask why the hell does Raiden at the start of the trailer say that he enjoys cutting people up so much that he gets off to it. I’d like to point out that Kojima Production are writing to story for Revengeance so my question is why the hell did they think that we need to know this fact about Raiden. With this being a spin-off game hopefully that won’t remain cannon but while we all try and forget that little fact about Raiden I’d like to point out that Metal Gear Solid Rising Revengeance will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 2013.

The trailer itself starts with Raiden driving down a highway talking (with the sort of voice you’d expect someone would have after drinking nothing but whiskey for a couple of years) about killing people and that other thing when he gets attacked by the some police officers. A small chase happens before the police decide to blow him off the road. While this is happening Raiden gets a call from his former boss complaining about him resigning. Raiden gets out of his trashed car and tells the police to try and arrest him because his a military cyborg and his breaking some law. They both laugh before the police try and kill him because for some reason they think that somehow they can kill a cyborg armed with military weapons with police standard issue equipment.

So yeah the trailer tells us nothing interesting about the story in large although it does hint that the game will focus on Raiden’s nickname of “Jack the Ripper” and there’s still no explanation for what Revengeance is supposed to mean. The demo itself is mainly focused on showing off the combat and especially the games controlled slicing which is called Blade Mode and how it can be used.  Revengeance’s combat can best be described without playing it as what would happen if you where to mix Ninja Gaiden’s blood and gore with Devil May Cry’s combos and need to show the character be as badass as possible.

Players will earn points for doing combo’s and will be rated throughout the game. Under your health bar there’s a blue bar for Blade Mode and it can be refuelled by taking what looks like a blue spine out of your enemies to recharge your bar if you press the right button while you’re slicing them up. At the end of the trailer while Raiden is talking for some reason his glowing red. It can be used in combat and it seems to increase his speed and strength. My guess is that you can use it by using the energy in the blue bar. So anyway that’s the new Revengeance trailer. So what’s your opinion on Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance? Personally I like the way the combat system looks and I really want to try it but I’m a little worried about the story.
