Yes that’s right Dragon’s Dogma fans a new iteration of the title is on its way. No it’s not a sequel, more like a director’s cut.
Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen includes all the content from the original Dragon’s Dogma, but also a whole new underground realm to explore.
Seasoned players will be able to import their saves from the original version of Dragon’s Dogma if they wish, while new players can start their experience from the beginning.
Now the trailer is in Japanese I believe, and understanding virtually nothing of the language I got to enjoy all the pretty colors. What the trailer does focus on though are the new enemies in Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen which includes Death itself -apparently if Death so much as sneezes in your general direction you will be sent straight to the grave. Other enemies include a Maneater at 00:38, which I couldn’t help but laugh at –definitely not the treasure he was seeking, and the Eliminator who has a ginormous hammer.
Now I mentioned this was more like a director’s cut mainly because you cannot get just the extra content digitally. You will have to either purchase a new disc based version or download the entire game digitally via Xbox Live or the PlayStation Store for $39.99 USD.
It’s not a greed issue though; apparently Capcom ran into some trouble with the coding of the original game and could not simply add on to it – so buying just the new tidbits is out. There is a silver lining however; those that own the original version and import their saves will get some “thank you for understanding” incentives which include: 100,000 Rift Crystals, unlimited Ferrystones, and a Gransys Armour Pack that has six new costumes.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen arrives on April 23, 2013. So be sure to give the trailer a whirl and let us know what you think in the comment section below!
