Nintendo 3DS Game SteamWorld Dig Tells The Tale of Cowboy SteamBots

Nintendo 3DS Game SteamWorld Dig Tells The Tale of Cowboy SteamBots
Nintendo 3DS Game SteamWorld Dig, created by the talented Swedish developer Image & Form, will be releasing exclusively on the Nintendo eShop. The game is schedule for release on August 7th, for European and Australian audiences, August 8th for the American audience, and in the upcoming months for Japan.
SteamWorld Dig is a platformer/mining video game that puts you in the boots of Rusty. Rusty, the main character, is your average good-hearted cowbot who likes to live the lone-wolf persona.  In his world, time has stopped around the 19th century and humanity has unexpectedly eradicated themselves. The ones that are left are cuddling in caves beneath the surface, while steam powered robots enjoy the hectic world of the Wild West.  One day, Rusty ventures out to help a town in a time of crisis, and while he was digging for riches he accidentally wakes an ancient evil that lurked below.
The game will offer some addictive gameplay and will have you doing all sorts of things such as dig tunnels, collect and sell rare materials, buy exciting new equipment, and of course challenge this new underground threat.

Writers Opinion

This game really looks like a lot of fun. I am really loving the artstyle, and am hoping the storyline provides some silly and slightly raunchy dialogue. The robots just remind me of Bender from Futurama which is most certainly a positive in my books. Platformers are one of my favorite genres, and I am also a big fan of games that include mining in it’s gameplay as well.

Something about exploring the mass underground to find hidden treasure appeals to me and I think this game will be able to deliver. The developers should really advertise this game as the 3DS continues to be successful for Nintendo. It has a  really good chance of getting some good sales as more and more people buy a 3DS this fall/winter season, due to some big titles getting a release on the console. Although kind of quick, this game has a good release date too since nothing else is really coming out on the 3DS this week: I do think this game will sell more towards late fall/holidays, but regardless I think there is a lot of potential in this title. Overall, the game looks great and I will be eagerly awaiting it’s release in the upcoming days.
