The stranger in need of some "moolah" will return with an HD face-lift in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
Imagine if there was a first-person shooter that didn't give you a variety of weapons, no multi-player, and not a single drop of realism. What you got was a first-person shooter that gives you a variety of living ammo to use in a crossbow, a unique protagonist trying to avoid his heritage, and the ability to rob anthropomorphic chickens in their house from their 'moolah'. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath might not be a new game as it was an exclusive to the old Xbox and is now available on the PC, but a shiny new HD update makes the game look even better.
The previous Oddworld games were puzzle-platformer games that revolved around the weak-yet-fart-filled Abe. Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath takes place on the same planet yet somewhere else; Taking an "Old West" aesthetic and lets you play as the mysterious bounty hunter called "Stranger". He is on the hunt of dangerous outlaws to gather money so he can undergo an unknown surgery. The outlaws might be armed with classic weapons from other shooter games, but the Stranger has his hand crossbow with various living creatures. Fire off boom bats that explode on impact, or shoot a slug-bug at an enemy to knock them out cold.
The HD update for Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath will redo all the models in the game and add extra features. Concept art and movie extras will be unlocked when you complete each region, and support for new languages will be added. Twelve brand new achievements will be added for Steam hunters to bag up, along with looking around for a variety of Easter eggs. Players can also change the difficulty of the game if they want to give the Stranger a harder challenge.
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is available right now via Steam for $9.99. The HD release comes with 30% off right now. Anyone that already owns Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath via Steam will get the HD update for free.
