So call me a noob if I have never heard of a game that has a multiplatform master edition like Pandora First Contact does.
If it truly is the first time, then it appears that I’m not a noob and I’ll have to explain what that means.
According to publisher Slitherine, Pandora, which was developed by Proxy Studios, will allow you to play on Windows, Mac, and Linux – all on one disk. In other words, there will be no operating system-specific version of the game that you must purchase to play on that specific OS; instead, you can just pop that one disk into any of the OSs and you have yourself that version of the game.
If that’s not innovative enough, it is also DRM-free – in 2014. What an idea. That allows a person who has, say, all three operating systems to install the game on all three without additional fees/hassle.
Iain McNeil, the development director of the Slitherine Group, had this to say about the model:
“We continue to listen and adapt. Changing models and making sure we actively respond to our customers need is our top priority. Sometimes it requires time and a lot of effort that may distract from the pure game development tasks, but this also helps us in creating a solid service for our many developer partners.”
Pandora: First Contact was released in November 2013.
