Pid Set For Halloween Release On XBLA And Steam

Might and Delight have announced that their 2D plaforming game Pid is set for release on the Xbox Live Arcade and Steam this Halloween.  Developed by Might and Delight, Pid was created by the core crew that worked on the previously released and critically acclaimed Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

‘Planets in Distress’ or Pid is a game in which the player is tasked with navigating a strange alien planet through creating and subsequently riding beams of anti-gravitational light. When a young, clever called Kurt and his friend Audrey are stranded on a strange new planet, he has to brave the pleasantly strange world to find his way home.

In Pid there are a number of ways to solve platforms and puzzles. The game has a number of unique gameplay mechanics. In Pid the protagonists light beams can be used to defy gravity and transport the hero from one place to another. This used alongside a bit of creative thinking allow for a range of solutions for every obstacle.  Pid utilizes precision based platform gaming and gravity bending action. In Pid gamers will have to solve a huge variety of puzzles and tackle a creative approach to environmental hazards.

The games developers have likened Pids gameplay to that of old school platformers stating that:

“Everything about Pid is fresh and exhilarating, but that doesn’t mean it forgets where it comes from.”… “Hair-trigger timing, complex platforming and simple concepts like holding jump for greater heights make for an intrinsic experience.”

Pid features both a unique art style and specially composed score which promises to improve on the players gaming experience. Pid portrays a world where the inhabitants have been stranded for many years and have grown into a shadow of their former selves.

Pid contains both single-player and co-op modes as shipwrecked Kurt and Audrey attempt to make it back to their home world. Gamers looking for a challenge can also undertake Pid in Hard mode which looks to be a step up from normal gameplay. In Hard mode players will have to solve harder puzzles and defeat stronger enemies.

Pid is set for release on Xbox LIVE Arcade and Steam in North America on October 31st. The game will cost 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99. Pid will be also be released on the PlayStation Network later this year.
