PlayStation 4 Party Chat to Support Eight Users

PlayStation 4 Party Chat

New console to boast similar chat functionality to PlayStation Vita

Today a representative from Sony confirmed that the PlayStation 4 will support up to eight users in party chat. In a Q&A concerning Killzone: Shadow Fall, Sony social media manager Sid Shuman was queried about the functionality.

“Party Voice Chat will support up to 8 players on PS4, like PS Vita,” he responded. Owners of the PS4 will also be able to chat with those using the PS Vita. Pretty cool.

Of course, not all headsets will support this new feature just yet. As reported last week, PS4 will not support current-gen bluetooth headsets for chat, and will require a post-launch patch for USB-based headsets to be compatible. Yes, even Sony’s own PULSE headsets will require a post-launch system update before they can be used period. All is not lost though as the PS4 will in fact be bundled with its own mono headset.

PS4 launches November 15 in the US and November 29 in Europe and Australia.

*Writers Opinion*

I have both a PS3 and Xbox 360, but I’m mostly a PC gamer. Now it seems that Sony does quite a bit of imitating with its completion- just look at the PS move. The party chat was an Xbox feature, and again it seems that Sony isn’t really innovating. Don’t get me wrong, this is a must for Sony, I would just like to see them “wow” me a bit with other innovations. So far all I’ve seen is re-hatched innovations from other companies. I’m open minded so please comment below and tell me that I’m mistaken, it might even lead to me buying a PS4 down the road!
