The card expansion to accompany the newest generation of Pokemon games will add Mega Evolution and the all-new Fairy-type
Following the massive success of the latest Pokemon titles for Nintendo 3DS, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, it has been announced that the still widely popular Pokemon Trading Card Game will be getting an equally exciting update. Starting on February 5th 2014, collectors will be able to purchase 10-card Pokemon TCG: XY booster packs introducing two of the biggest updates of the newest games: Fairy-type Pokemon and the all-new Mega Evolutions.
The fairy-type has been long expected, and featured the introduction of a host of new Pokemon with that type, including one of the newest legendary Pokemon Xernes. Fairy-type Pokemon are super-effective against Dark, Dragon and Fighting type creatures, and will add an interesting new element to the trading card game.
The newest sets also introduce Mega Evolution, allowing an extra evolutionary stage for some Pokemon including Blastoise and Venusaur, who both feature as Mega Evolutions in the newest Pokemon TCG: XY sets. These evolutions won’t be too easy to achieve though, so they won’t be showing up too often!
Now in its 18th year, the Pokemon Trading Card Game has shipped over 70 billion cards across 74 countries, and there are still intensely competitive annual tournaments held across the world.
The Pokemon TCG: XY expansion packs will be available from February 5th 2014 nationwide.
