Pokemon X and Y Sell 4 Million Copies Worldwide on it’s First Two Days of Release
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y launched Saturday, 12th October, is the first game in the franchise to launch simultaneously worldwide. The game managed to sell more than 4 million units across Japan, Europe, and The Americas during it’s first 2 days on the market.
Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata said,
“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers are eager to experience the franchise for themselves,”
Being the first global launch in the franchise history, it is hard to get a exact launch comparison. Pokemon X and Pokemon Y would be the fastest selling 3DS title of all time and is selling much faster then Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 by more then 70%.
The Pokemon continues to be a worldwide success as the series has sold more then 245 million games throughout the world. Ever since 2002, five sets of Pokemon titles have combined to exceed 10 million units sold worldwide, with three sets selling more then 15 million units.
