Prison Architect reaches 100,000 players

Prison Architect, released in Alpha on September the 26 of last year, has just hit the milestone of 100,000 players. It is one of the worlds newest and best prison management simulation games, taking inspiration from games such as  Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper,  and Dwarf Fortress. Prison Architect is a top down simulator where the player takes the role of managing and constructing a maximum security prison. The player also has to manage multiple elements such as staff, building new cells, fiance, and keeping the inmates pleased to make sure that their prison is in the best shape that it can be.

The player has many different choices of what they are able to do as the architect or governor while using the sandbox theme to put lights or drains and put them together. Players may also submit suggestions and bugs that they might find during the alpha to make the game the best it can possibly be. The game is currently on the 10th version with new versions being released every few weeks addressing bug fixes and new added features.

Prison Architect takes inspiration from Kickstarter with crowd-sourcing you are available to purchase tiers from $30 to $500 to help the game’s development. The higher the tiers you go, comes more limited edition rewards and features. Such as special goods, a character named after you in the game, or being a prisoner in the game. All participants who contribute, no matter the tier, will be given access to the Windows, Mac, and Linux, Steam and Vanilla versions as well as a copy of the completed game on release. Prison Architect was also featured as one of the first Early Access games on Steam. It is currently in development by Introversion Software.
