Sony have announced plans to release an update for the PS Vita to enable it linkable to the PlayStation 4
The update called PS4 Link, will enable gamers to use the portable console for remote play and as a second screen for the soon to be released PlayStation 4.
Set to be released on Tuesday, the software update includes a host of new features including the PS4 Link. The update will enable users to remotely control a PlayStation 4 and play a number of PS4 games on the PS Vita. On top of that, PS4 games that support a second screen can display information from the game on the Vita. Once installed, PS4 link will displayed on the Vita’s home screen. The update also includes a panoramic camera setting, improves the layout of Friend and Messages applications and adds parental controls to the home screen.
But PlayStation 3 players need not fear, you are not going to be forgotten. A new content manager will allow PS Vita owners to connect the handheld device to a PS3 via Wi-Fi.
The PlayStation 4 is one of the latest consoles set to be released this year. PlayStation fans have been waiting for this release since it was announced at Gamescon 2013. Sony are going up against their nearest console rivals, Microsoft, who are releasing their Xbox One, in the hope that they corner the market. Both consoles have their pros and cons, but the PlayStation 4 seems to currently hold the majority vote in terms of fans. The console is set to launch on November the 15th in North America and November the 29th in Europe. A whole host of games are due to be released before and on the console release dates including Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA Live 14, Need for Speed Rivals and many more.
