Player vs. Player and More quests than you can shake a moogle at coming to Final Fantasy XIV: with Patch 2.1 A Realm Awoken this December
After a successful re-launch, Final Fantasy XIV looks to be going from strength to strength, and that’s only set to continue with a new patch released on December 17th. Adding a whole host of new features, Patch 2.1, also known as A Realm Awoken, looks set to give players the chance to compete in player vs player battles and a load of new quests.
Perhaps the main new feature added by A Realm Awoken is The Crystal Tower, a huge dungeon to be tackled by groups of up to 24 players. The structure, supposedly unearthed by the Calamity that saw the rebirth of Final Fantasy XIV, promises to play host to some powerful magical items and relics. However, it looks to be quite a challenge, with players having to tackle the Labyrinth of the Ancients which leads up to the Crystal Tower in order to gain access to the monolithic structure.
The introduction of a PvP arena, known as The Wolves’ Den only promises to add even more competition to the game, as competitors from all over Eorzea seek bragging rights in competition with one another. Also included in the update are new housing districts which will allow players to create a base of operations in any of the major cities, with customisable interiors, exteriors and furnishings. Customisation is also added through a quest which gives the player the chance to help an Aesthetician, who can change a character’s appearance, including face paint, hairstyle and more.
Add onto this a huge number of quests, including the resurrection of the legendary Moogle leader Thornmarch, daily beast quests, treasure hunts, an investigation into zombie activity, an abandoned lighthouse inhabited only by a deadly siren, a chance to battle Ultima Weapon in an ultra-hard boss fight, new extreme battles against the primals Garuda, Ifrit and Titan, and two new challenging dungeons to tackle.
Obviously, an addition to the main storyline is also included, as the forces of Eorzea start to recover and again seek conquest throughout the land, with adventurer’s required to defend the peace.
This huge patch promises to add a massive amount of new quests and features, and fans don’t have long to wait! The patch will be released on 17th December!
