Croteam and Mastertronic have announced that their popular FPS Serious Sam 3:BFE will be released worldwide for the Xbox Live Arcade. The game which was previously released last year for PC is the latest instalment in the Serious Sam series. The Xbox Live Arcade version of the arcaded style shooter has been fully converted to take full advantage of the Xbox 360 and LIVE. Serious Sam promises to deliver a new and exciting ‘Serious Sam’ experience for home consoles.
Chief Creative Director of Croteam spoke about the upcoming port commenting:
“Ever since we announced Serious Sam 3: BFE our fans have asked us to bring the game to Xbox LIVE Arcade.” … “Boom. Done.”
Serious Sam 3: BFE takes place in the 22nd century, during an invasion of Earth which was implied in the games predecessor ‘The First Encounter’. Serious Sam is set in Egypt and involves player fighting against hoardes of enemies in wide open environments. Serious Sam 3 also includes a much larger number of enemies that may attack the player than previous instalments.
Serious Sam 3: BFE will hit the Xbox Live Arcade next week on October 17th. Serious Sam 3: BFE includes a massive single player campaign as well as online co-op and split screen multiplayer modes. Gamers will also be able to pick up the brand-new Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile campaign expansion which includes multiplayer versus modes like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Last Team Standing and My Burden. Serious Sam 3: BFE includes 25 XBLA achievements. The game also makes use of player leaderboards so that gamers can compare their own feats with other players.
Fork Parker, from Devolver Digital CFO also spoke about Serious Sams release on XBLA saying:
“Awesome, now I can go from getting absolutely annihilated by some loudmouth with a mouse and keyboard to getting annihilated by some loudmouth with an Xbox 360 controller.” “Damn these silky smooth thumbs.”
Serious Sam 3: BFE will hit the XBLA on October 17th. The game will cost 1200 Microsoft points. The Serious Sam 3: Jewel of the Nile expansion pack will also be available upon the games release and will also cost 1200 MP.
