Spy vs Spy, developed by Robots and Pencils, together with First Star Software, Inc. and Warner Bros. released a reworked classic for the iPhone/iPad iOS platform on July 26th 2012. This weekend just gone, they celebrated the fact the game had hit the #1 spot for top paid app, and have lowered the price to 69p (99 cents) indefinitely as a gift.
Apple themselves labeled the game as ‘New and Noteworthy’.
The press have had nothing but positive things to say about the game too:
TechCrunch says, “if you still remember the sly snicker of the black spy as the white spy is blown sky high, it’s well worth the investment.”
“This new iOS version is a faithful recreation of the original and an excellent update at the same time,” says InsideMobileApps.
148Apps says, “Robots and Pencils Inc. have done a wonderful thing. For fans of the original Spy vs Spy, the chance to play this game in a modern setting with updated graphics is awesome.”
“Spy vs Spy is a solid revamp for the new age of mobile devices that definitely brings back the memory of the original title. Fans of the original should go for it, while newcomers should try this out for sure ’cause this is a heck of a game,” said iDroidPlay.
“Spy vs Spy” was also awarded a Bronze Award by Pocket Gamer; Cult of Mac named it a Must Have; Gametrailers named it their App of the Day; and GamingUpdate made it their game of the week.
Description:
SPY vs SPY is based on the original, multi-million unit selling, break out hit on the Commodore 64; Apple // series; and Atari 400/800 computers by First Star Software, Inc. It features online and local multiplayer matches, 16 new embassies (plus the original 8), and a pixel perfect retro mode as well as a modern mode, both with the famous black and white spies from MAD Magazine.
HOW TO WIN:
Your mission: escape the embassy, top secret briefcase in hand. Remember, all else is but a mere distraction! You must locate and finally collect the missing passport, traveling money, key and secret plans before making your way to the airport door to board your plane – all before time runs out -all while placing booby-traps for your opponent, avoiding or defusing those set by him and engaging in club-to-club combat.
Updates to the modern version include HD visuals, support of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple’s GameCenter and contains remixes of the original music and much more.
The retro mode sticks to the original game, but is pixel perfect, re-creating the game in its entirety for all to enjoy as it was.
You can buy the game here for the iPhone/iPad for 69p (99 cents)
