The Walking Dead…Walks Off The Shelves – 1 Million Downloads

The Walking Dead, published by Telltale Games and is the brainchild of Robert Kirkman has been downloaded over 1 million times.

Available on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network, and PC & Mac via Steam, it is a downloadable series of episodes.

The first of The Walking Dead episodes released is called ‘A New Day’ and has been the number 1 best selling game on Xbox Live Arcade for two weeks running!

“Premiering  The Walking Dead game series to record numbers across so many diverse platforms is a tremendous achievement that shows the value of bringing strong storytelling and game play together,” said Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games, Inc.

“The tailored narrative design puts gamers in control of their own story within the universe of  The Walking Dead in a way that appeals equally to hardcore gamers and to more casual gamers who are fans of the franchise.  The most exciting aspect of getting off to such a great start is that this is just the beginning of the five episode series.  The Walking Dead  fans are going to experience some really great moments in the months ahead that are uniquely influenced by the choices they make throughout the season.”

For people on iOS devices, the first episode will be available this summer.

The popularity comes as no surprise though, as it was awarded many ‘Editors Choice’ awards from the likes of IGN, PC Gamer, and the Official Xbox Magazine. It also recieved a ‘Gold Award’ from Playstation: The Official Magazine.

The Walking Dead: Episode 1 – A New Day is set in a world of Robert Kirkman’s extremely popular comic book series.

It follows Lee Everett convicted of a crime of passion, and he has been thrown into a world filled with the undead, and must survive to claim redemption.

Players will be able to change the story by the actions they take, which will carry out through all the episodes.

You will meet familar comic book characters, but also some new faces along the way.

Available for 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox Live Arcade, and £3 an episode on the Playstation Network.

It is available as a season pass on Steam for £20.99 for the PC & Mac, which will give you each episode as they come.

The Playstation Network will also offer a season pass, costing £15.99. Strangely, this is 99p more than for each episode paid seperately, but perhaps they will download automatically?

The second episode of The Walking Dead is to be available this June called ‘Starved For Help’.
