Sega Genesis classic ToeJam and Earl is now available for digital download. On November 6th Sega of America Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. Publicized their happiness to bring back ToeJam and Earl and sequel, ToeJam and Earl in Panic on Funkotron to both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.
For those not familiar with ToeJam and Earl, you are task with helping the alien duo search for the missing pieces of their crashed space ship. To make matters worse they have crashed landed on the craziest planet in the galaxy, which happens to be the planet Earth. Travel the rogue planet and collect a wild assortment of helpful items and not so helpful items while staying away from the planet’s more unique inhibiters.
The sequel, ToeJam and Earl: Panic on Funkotron takes place on our heroes’ home planet, but with extra cargo of human stowaways. The duo must capture their unwelcomed guest and send them back to Earth to restore peace to Funkotron.
Both titles will feature updates to fit into normal standards of today, providing achievements and trophies, and full online co-op support.
Both game where meet with critical acclaim, both being call “beautifully designed” and “one of the funniest games ever player.”
ToeJam and Earl; Panic on Funkotron was re-released on the Wii’s virtual console in 2007, but wasn’t as well taken by critics as the original title, but was praised for it’s two-player cooperative mode and fluid animations.
Players can now download both of these titles separately on the PlayStation Network for $4.99 and buy both games together on Xbox Live Arcade under the title Sega Vintage Collection: ToeJam and Earl for 800 Microsoft Points.
