DLC costume dressing Lightning as Lara Croft will be available at launch
Square Enix Inc, publisher of both Tomb Raider and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, have announced that a costume will be available allowing Lightning to dress up as everyone’s favourite adventurer, Lara Croft.
The costume will be modelled on Lara’s appearance in last year’s Tomb Raider and this year’s Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for next-gen consoles. The costume will include all of Lara’s signature wardrobe, including vest, shorts and boots, as well as some of her most iconic weapons from the most recent Tomb Raider title. Players will receive the Survivor’s Axe and Riot Shield, which Lightning can equip and use during combat in Lightning Returns. The costume is unmistakably Lara Croft’s, which you can see for yourself in the trailer below.
Square Enix have used costumes for Lightning to pay homage to some classic titles, both from within the Final Fantasy series and from other Square Enix titles. For example, the clothing and weapon of, undoubtedly the coolest main character ever, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII is available with the game’s limited edition Pre-Order Bonus Pack, as well as Yuna’s outfit from Final Fantasy X for anyone who has ordered the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for either PS3 or PS Vita.
Even though there have already been a considerable number of costumes announced, it is expected that even more will be made available between now and launch, as well as in the weeks and months following the release of Lightning Returns.
Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII will conclude Lightning’s epic story, which started with Final Fantasy XIII, when it is released on February 11th (NA) or 14th (EU) for Xbox 360 and PS3, and the Lara Croft costume will be available to download at launch.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition was recently released for next-gen consoles, having been a huge hit on current-gen systems last year. See our top 7 reasons to play Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition here.
