Along with SimCity Offline modding is more open now
The year may have just started but the latest post on the Maxis blog by the general manager Patrick Buechner has confirmed that someone has finally listened to the fan base because update 10 will bring SimCity Offline.
As part of update 10 SimCity Offline will be free and relax because all of your previously downloaded content will be available to use at any time, online and offline with your saved data being saved locally.Interestingly enough in the post Patrick Buechner also brought up the modding community and said that
“Modding is a big part of our studio’s legacy and we’re excited to see what you guys create” and he even highlighted Oppie85’s Central Train Station mod. It’s awesome to see developers open up to and even praise mods as a good modding community can almost infinity extent a games lifespan.
He also highlights their new Modding Policy for those of you with a real interest in modding. They’ll soon start uploading tutorials so inspiring modders can get a helping start.
Back to the SimCity Offline update itself fans of the game can relax because the Online version will be completely unaffected by the introduction of the Offline mode and all your online cities and work will still be there when you switch back online after playing Offline for a while.
The SimCity Offline update is almost finished but there is no date yet for its release as they’re using some of their most hardcore players to test the new update thoroughly before launch. Sounds like they might have learned something from the games original launch.
