‘Outside the Law’ Releases Bringing Two New Maps: Fire Arrows and Verdant Forest, F2P Weekend and Live Stream Coming This Week

Yesterday, February 27, 2013, Paradox Interactive released the latest free content update for War of the Roses. For those of you who are unfamiliar, War of the Roses is a medieval squad based combat title from Fatshark. ‘Outside the Law,’ the title for the new update, gives warriors new locations to battle with new weaponry and armor. This new installment ‘cry’s havor and lets loose the dogs of war…’ [-Shakespeare]
As if that weren’t enough to whet your appetite, Fatshark is giving both Lancastrian and Yorkist archers new methods of attack that I am sure we all have been waiting for – flaming arrows capable of igniting the poor bloke who happens to stand in range of fire. Pun intended.
‘Outside the Law’ takes the war to the steps of Greenwood, a brand new lush forest map what will be sure to run red as armies take to battle across its hills and valleys. Warriors will be forces to navigate fallen trees and abandoned tent camps as they fight.
That backyard forestry was a great place to play with fire as a kid (don’t play with fire kids,) and it is sure to be fun to shoot flaming arrows across this beautiful new map. Those flaming arrows will do great to accessorize the brand new Elm Self Bow and Yew Self Bow being added to this game.
Hand-to-Hand combat is sure to be as exciting as ever as combatants will have to stay constantly moving in order to dodge the fiery volleys coming their way. Along with the foresty theme going on, new melee weapons have been added as well: the Woodman’s Axe, Headsman’s Axe, Shillelagh Mace, and Quaterstaff.
And remember, when heavy machinery is involved, such as our fine new weapons, it’s always nice to have a hard hat. Why not equip yourself with the new Bycocket Hat to keep alive and try out some of the other new armor pieces as you get them.
War of the Roses will play host to a free-to-play weekend this weekend, giving squires the chance to experience knighthood. To participate, check out their Steam page.
For both sides of the round table, whether newbie or veteran, Executive Producer Gordon Van Dyke and company will be hosting a live steam of their wonder game to show case the fire-packed update and kick off the F2P weekend.
Check out the broadcast on February 28 at 7 p.m. GMT (11 a.m. PST) by heading over to the official Paradox Interactive channel on Twitch TV.
