Sony’s biggest shooter franchise Killzone is leading the charge for the next generation first person shooters on Playstation 4. We’ll go through here what details we know of Killzone: Shadow Fall.
The Killzone: Shadow Fall gameplay demo shown at Sony’s PlayStation 4 press conference pretty much stated the visual appeal of what is to come from next generation PlayStation. The entire 8 minute video looked amazing, and if you haven’t seen it yet – check it out here!
The game is set in a near future,in the year 2381 – thirty years after the events of Killzone 3. The city you can see in the video is Vekta City, where there’s two different factions currently sharing the futuristic world but is divided by a gigantic wall; The Helghast and the Vektans.
Apparently plenty of tension remains between the two sides at this point of time, and another cold war could break out at any moment. The character you play as is the Shadow Marshall – who is tasked on bringing the two sides from a fragile order to a balancing one.
If you’re familiar to the Killzone series they’ve always had dark, gritty environments wherever you travelled however with Vekta City it’s bright, vibrant and basically the opposite – at least until hell breaks loose. However the scope of the atmosphere still remains which is a main aspect to the Killzone series.
As we gather deep into the video, intensity breaks out once the Helghast start the fire fight. We notice our Marshall has several abilities up his sleeve, with a shield orb ability that absorbs much of the Helghast gun fire coming his way. He also is able to slow down time momentarily to get accurate pin point shots on his targets.

According to Game Director Steven Ter Heide he describes the following when relating to the gameplay of Killzone: Shadow Fall: “From responding to bold attacks, to quiet infiltrations or all out combat, you will be required to adapt and think on your feet as you have to face a variety of escalating events that could destroy your home world.”
Looks like variety will plan a way where run and gun will not be the only option to get your objectives completed. Although in this video it mainly demonstrates the typical rail shooter, it will be interesting on what Guerilla games have in store.
KillZone: Shadow Fall is the sixth Killzone title in the series but cannons the main series with the setting after KillZone 3. Guerilla games did official say it will be a launch title for the PlayStation 4, which means it will be a holiday 2013 release window.
