Digital distribution is becoming a necessity with our current game industry. Some of the best indie games of last year, Bastion or Terraria were released digitally and sold well. Nintendo hasn’t made much of a push with digital distribution with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii, but they look to change that with the upcoming Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Topoloco, Sparkle Snapshots 3D, and Frogger: Hyper Arcade are coming to the Nintendo eShop, along with other games available on the Wii or Nintendo 3DS.
Topoloco – Crazy about Topography is a game targeted towards people with an interest in learning about geography. The player will engage in a series of mini-games, take final exams, and read from a world atlas to learn about how the surface of planets are formed. All this will be delivered by the great professor Topocolo, who will make sure you’re having fun while you learn. This game will be available through the Nintendo eShop and DSi Shop for 500 points (about €5 or £4.50), and can play on a Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DS that supports DSiWare.
Sparkle Snapshots 3D is an application that will provide better customization of any 3D pictures taken on the Nintendo 3DS. You can place any 3D picture you take in a 3D frame or background, put original 3D objects or stamps on them – or make a collage of your own doodles using the Stylus and bottom touch-screen. Afterwards, you could share these creations with friends wirelessly. This application will be available through the Nintendo eShop for 500 points as well.
Finally, an update to the classic game Frogger is coming to Nintendo’s Wii Shop Channel. Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition is a celebration of the original game’s 30th birthday, providing several new game modes. It retains the classic run-and-dodge gameplay of the original Frogger, but now up to four players could engage in Tile Capture, Batle Royale, or Freak Out. The game will be available on the Nintendo Wii for 1000 points.
Other games that are coming to the Nintendo eShop are: 99Seconds, a classic arcade game available on the Nintendo 3DS and DSi. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy DLC from previous Final Fantasy games, only on the Nintendo 3DS. And DLC for Sparkle Snapshots 3D that have assets from previous Mario games.
