Worms Collection Wriggling To Retailers

Worms Collection

If you are into the Worms series, and you have a calender, mark down August 31st 2012 with a big red circle (or whatever other colour pen/pencil/marker/paint & brush you happen to have in your hand)

Mastertronic, a video game publisher and distributer, is to release Worms Collection for the Xbox 360 and PS3 containing 3 games; Worms, Worms Ultimate Mayhem, and Worms 2: Armageddon, with 6 full DLC packs from Team 17s studio.

If you have never played Worms, then where have you been? Have you been buried in earth all your gaming life?

Worms first appeared back in 1995 on the Amiga but was quickly ported to the PC/MAC, Atari Jaguar, Mega Drive/Genesis, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, Nintendo GameCube, Nokia N-Gage, SNES, PlayStation and PlayStation 2, Sega Saturn, Microsoft Pocket PC, and Xbox *breathes*.

It is a cartoon style turn based shooter, and you control a small team of earthworms, in war over land with another, with very bizarre weaponry at your dispoal, deformable terrain, hillarious audio, and simple gameplay mechanics making it pick up and play for anyone wanting to join in. The objective? Kill the other team and be the last ones standing.

“There’s only one thing more dangerous than a worm with a big gun, and that’s three Worms with big guns,” said Nick Clarkson, Team 17 Marketing Director. “We’re over the moon to see these three titles buddying up on one disc and heading to retailers, and unless your heart is completely cold and wormless, I reckon it’s a fairly irresistible proposition.”

Worms was followed by Worms 2, and then Worms Armageddon (An update of sorts to Worms 2). Worms Armageddon added a whole new array of weaponry, new customisation options, new physics, and much more.

Worms Ultimate Mayhem is reletively new, and was launched in 2011 for PC, Xbox Live and the Playstation Network. It is a reworked Worms 3D and Worms 4: Mayhem, loaded with plenty more customisation options, missions and is presented in 3D, a side step from the usual 2D sidescroller affair.

As mentioned, Worms Collection will arrive in stores on August 31st 2012, and at a price you cannot miss if you are a fan wanting to reminisce or fancy even giving the collection to a friend who might have missed the series previously.
