Writer Rhianna Pratchett to Work on Beatbuddy

Indie developer Threaks with Reverb Publishing are excited to announce that Writers’ Guild of Great Britain award winning writer Rhianna Pratchett will be doing some work on the script and storyline for Beatbuddy, a soon to come action adventure game. A few examples of the games that she has worked on include the Overlord series, Heavenly Sword, Mirrors Edge, and the new rebooted Tomb Raider. She learned of the makers of Beatbuddy, Threaks, from Grammy-nominated artist Austin Wintory, who is also working on a exclusive song plus level for the game. She was excited about the idea of working with Austin Wintory and Threaks, the talented minds behind Beatbuddy. This is what Pratchett had to say about working on Beatbuddy,

No matter what you’ve written in the past, it’s the challenges and the people you work with who really matter. I cut my teeth on smaller indie titles, so it’s great to get to do more work in that space again with the THREAKS team.

Winner of the Best Art and Best Sound titles in Intel’s 2012 Level Up Game Demo Contest, Beatbuddy is using a innovative idea that will let players influence the music in each level that they play. You will also interact with many different creatures to help solve the challenges and open the paths that the game has to offer. Threaks are using their new patent-pending technology that lets the in-game animations sync correctly with the music, giving players a whole new experience. Denis Rogic, the art director over at Threaks talks about how they ended up working with Pratchett,

When we started with the story of Beatbuddy last year, we initially held off contacting Rhianna because we assumed that she’d be too busy or might not be interested in a small indie project. It turned out that it was exactly the kind of thing she was looking for. It’s truly amazing knowing that we have Austin Wintory and Rhianna Pratchett providing their talents to our game.

With the combination of all of these interesting aspects, Beatbuddy will definitely turn out to be a unique experience. It will be released later this year by Reverb Publishing on PC, Mac, and Linux.
