XCOM: Enemy Unknown For Linux Announced

Macintosh publisher announces XCOM: Enemy Unknown for Linux and SteamOS, set to be released this summer.

Feral Interactive, a publisher known for releasing games on Macintosh platforms, has announced that they will be bringing XCOM: Enemy Unknown and all its add-on content to Linux and SteamOS this summer. The game, originally published by 2K, will be the first game Feral Interactive has ever released on Linux .

This version of the game will be released through Steamplay and will be available on Ubuntu 14.04 and SteamOS. It will also support Steam achievements and leaderboards as well as save game synchronization. System requirements and prices will be announced as the release date draws closer. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a remake of the 1994 tactical combat game, XCOM: UFO Defense. In Enemy Unknown, you are the commander of XCOM, a secret military organization tasked with protecting Earth from an alien invasion.

Players use a combination of strategy and RPG elements such as leveling and special abilities to accomplish various tasks such as extracting a target or destroying an enemy base. Players must also manage their base and its resources to gain advantages in the field.

Feral Interactive is a video game publisher based in London, England. It was founded in 1996 and is responsible for numerous Macintosh releases such as Bioshock, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Ultimate Edition), and Hitman: Absolution (Elite Edition).
