Xwired (Cross-wired) games have announced Aftermath for the PC.
The game will release on the PC alongside the Mac update, which will give players a host of graphical and gameplay improvements.
Aftermath is set in a future post-apocalyptic world, damaged by war. It features both racing challenges, and combat action in this exciting combat racer.
“The core idea of Aftermath was always to create a mix of nostalgic 80’s sci-fi style with fast and fun gameplay, and while the feel of the game has always been good, we were sure the game hadn’t quite reached its potential”, commented Phil Clark, the Artist and Designer at XWired Games. “In the latest update to the game, the version that we’ve launched on the PC, we aimed to address the biggest point of feedback we’d had from our player base – making the AI more competitive. Based on this, we made the decision to completely gut the race AI and build it again from scratch. Now players can expect to find the enemies much more aggressive in the way they drive – the ‘overtake & ignore’ strategy is out the window. Hopefully the changes we’ve made will lead to the game feeling more challenging, and provide a more fun experience for our players”.
The game has been on the Mac for quite some time on the Mac app store, but the indie developers have found it very hard to push the game onto the open PC platform until now.
Today, this changes, with the game finally becoming available on IndieCity; a company dedicated to small indie based developers who otherwise wouldn’t have a chance in the larger open space and gives them the opportunity to shine and gain popularity . It gives small developers that ‘closed’ feel of the Mac App Store without the hassle of hosting on other websites.
“As PC gamers at heart, we’re thrilled to finally see something we’ve made available on our ‘home turf’, and even more so that it’s through a great site like IndieCity. We originally released Aftermath on the Mac App Store, but for quite a while now we’ve been itching to find a good way of bringing it to the PC audience. Getting a game out on the Mac is easy, the Mac Store and Apple make it that way. Comparably, getting a game out on the PC is like drilling for oil with a hairdryer – you might have some luck eventually, but you wish there was a way that made more sense.”
“Of course, there’s always the option to of selling it yourself from your own website, but this brings along a whole host of other issues with it – version control and hosting costs, to DRM and tax complications – a whole lot of things that you don’t want to worry about. Indie devs just want to make games and get them out there for people to play – and this is where IndieCity fits in nicely. We have enough hats to wear, and now we can let them worry about a few of them for us!”.
XWired games is an indie developer, based in the Northwest of England, UK, formed by 3 friends and university graduates.
Their clear goal is to create games that, we as gamers would want to play, and they continue to push to create quality games, and will carry on doing so.
