Zelda: Majora Mask’s Skull Kid Coming to Next Super Smash Bros.

Fairly simple announcement from Nintendo today; the Skull Kid, you know the one from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, he’s going to make an “appearance” in the next Super Smash Bros. game. Unfortunately this “appearance” doesn’t translate into him being a playable character.  The news comes via a post featured on Miiverse from Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai which revealed a screenshot of the character as well as this caption:

“Pic of the day. Here’s a new Assist Trophy–the Skull Kid! I repeat, it’s an Assist Trophy, not a new fighter. The characters announced on the website are the fighters!”

Not the most exciting news I know, but hey most developers are winding down for the holidays and need some recharge time.   One character I did notice was Sonic the Hedgehog; it’s kind of nice to see Nintendo bringing their former rivalry with Sega to life by having their mascots duke it out.  Super Smash Bros. will launch sometime in 2014 on 3DS and Wii U, which will give you plenty of time to finish all of those fresh holiday titles coming your way.

Oh and here’s the Skull Kid in all his glory…

On any give day Jason crushes the locust horde, ends the zombie apocalypse, and finds epic loot in the process.
