Zynga Slingo Facebook App Popular in September

Slingo partnered with Zynga to release Zynga Slingo, making it one of the top Facebook apps for the month of September. The awkward title is just another thing that we put up with in the age of the internet, where we say things like “tweet” or “Pinterest” without anyone batting an eye. I don’t mean to sound like a cranky old person, but what the heck is a slingo and what is it doing next to a zynga? Is it an endangered species of bird in Australia? No? Well that would at least make some sense.

The Zynga Slingo app had more than 54.2 million monthly average users. Why, do you ask? "For more than 16 years, Slingo has been a top brand across multiple channels and business models, including social mobile and real-money wagering,” said Rich Roberts, CEO of Slingo, Inc. “As the first social game on the internet and now the fastest-growing social brand, we are excited about building off this success with our new releases in the social mobile and iGaming marketplaces later this year." I’m going to be real with you here. I don’t think this app is popular because Slingo is such a well-known brand. I think it is because the app harnesses the power of gambling, or as it is apparently known in corporate speak, “real money wagering.” So you’ve combined the addictive power of gambling with the addictive appeal of social media games? Who would have ever thought that would be successful! I’m going to guess that the next release by Zynga Slingo will add another name to the app, and since addiction appears to be the theme here, I’m going to go with Zynga Slingo Nicotene.
