E3 2014: Top Five Most Anticipated Games

Looking ahead my top 5 most anticipated games now after E3 2014

We saw a ton of great games at E3 2014. It’d be easy just to say we are looking forward to all of them, but here are my top 5 games I’m really looking forward to now after E3. As always, this is just an opinion – not a fact. If you disagree with this list, let us know in the comments below your favorite games you saw at E3 2014.

5. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege rainbow6siege_ss2_147510

Ubisoft once again closed their show off with a bang. Rainbow Six: Siege was a game that nobody knew about, thankfully because it wasn’t leaked, and it was a pleasant surprise. Rainbow Six: Siege has a really cool looking multiplayer that places a strong emphasis on team. A little bit like The Last of Us’ multiplayer in some regards.

Ubisoft has a knack for keeping things a secret and showing off a fantastic new game that closes off the show one a high note. It was two years ago when we first saw Watch Dogs, and last year we saw Tom Clancy’s The Division at E3. Now, this year Rainbow Six: Siege.

Rainbow Six: Siege is scheduled to come out in 2015 and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

4. Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac Games’ Sunset Overdrive was a fantastic trailer poking fun at the very serious action military type games and the gameplay wasn’t too bad either. Sunset Overdrive has that look and that feel of a fun game. Much in the same vein as Ratchet & Clank. Sunset Overdrive may not be a massive system seller, but it’ll definitely help Microsoft sell Xbox One’s. It’s definitely a game that is getting a lot of looks and a lot of buzz.

Also, one of the big things going for Sunset Overdrive is that it is one of the few games that is actually coming out this year (October 28th). The vast majority of games that we saw are games that are coming out in 2015 or later.

3. No Man’s Skyno-mans-sky-5

No Man’s Sky debuted at the VGX awards in December last year, and it was an interesting concept. Fast forward to E3 2014 and that interesting concept is something breathtaking; An absolutely beautiful looking game. A game not only beautiful, but a game I just want to dive into right now and put in hours and hours; traveling into space, traveling to other planets, and just explore.

No Man’s Sky will come out on the PlayStation 4 and PC at the same time (TBA), and on the Xbox One at a later date.

2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-100-horas-speedrun

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game that may end up being a contender for Game of the Year for 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a massive open-world, action RPG game that will be 30 times bigger than the previous Witcher games. And with this massive world the most impressive thing is that there will be no loading times.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the best of worlds in terms of open world, RPG, and fantasy. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is Skyrim meets Mass Effect meets Game of Thrones. I can’t wait for this one. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt comes out February 24th, 2015 for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.

1. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s EndUncharted 4 A Thiefs End Free Wallpaper

I mentioned that I had concern for the Uncharted series and even Naughty Dog as a whole. And it was warranted at the time. It was worth discussing and talking about. How would this effect the Uncharted series? What direction is Uncharted taking? Who’s behind it? Et cetera, Et cetera. When a company like Naughty Dog has key members leaving – such as Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond –   that’s a cause for concern. But, now, we have answers and we have some clarity.

Before E3, news came out that Neil Druckmann (Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and The Last of Us) and Bruce Straley (The Last of Us) were in fact working on the next Uncharted. And at the very end of the Sony conference, we got a peak into the next Uncharted game – and it looks fantastic. It was only about 30 seconds, but it looks dark and it looks fantastic. First impressions speak loudly and I don’t believe there is any cause for concern.

One of the things I talked about when discussion about Naughty Dog’s situation was Naughty Dog has had the reputation of raising the bar time and time again. So much so that even if Uncharted 4 was great, it may not have been better than The Last of Us, thus the public may think Naughty Dog maybe slipping a bit. But, with just that brief glimpse of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Naughty Dog may be in a position where they may (somehow) raise the bar once again and (perhaps) close off the Uncharted series with a bang. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, for me, was the best looking game at E3 and without a doubt my most anticipated game for 2015.

So, that’s my list of games I’m looking forward and thought were the best games at E3 2014. There are other games I’m looking forward to, of course, I’m looking forward to Bloodbourne (especially Bloodbourne. I thought for sure it would make the top 5. Alas it didn’t.), Far Cry 4, Destiny, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and many more, but they just didn’t make it on my top 5 list. With that said, whether you agree or disagree with the list, give us your opinion in the comments below.
