Thoughts VS Opinions on Battlefield 3 Premium Disappointment?

The 9th July saw the release of a BF3 Premium Soldier Upgrade, but did it leave a feeling of disappointment?

When I saw on the calendar that Battlefield 3 Premium members were due to have a new batch of customisation options, such as new weapons and soldier camouflages this Monday, I was pretty excited to say the least. I had anticipated an addition to the camouflages available for the previous weapons that saw customisable camos, as well as a host of new gun/rifle camos for other weapons that had previously been neglected.

Unfortunately I was disappointed when I finally found out what the new features would be. Below is a list of the soldier upgrades:

  • F2000 ‘Woodland Oak’ Camo
  • PKP Pecheneg ‘Tactical’ Camo
  • L96 ‘Digital Woodland’ Camo
  • SCAR-H ‘Berkut’ Camo
  • American Soldier ‘Airman’ Camo
  • Russian Soldier ‘Woodland Stripe’ Camo

As you can see, the new camouflages that have been released were for the weapons that had originally seen customisation options appear on the release day of Battlefield 3 Premium. This made me a bit of a sad panda. First of all Premium was quite alot of money and whilst I appreciate the future costs I will save and also that there are still more upgrades to come in the future, I was kind of expecting more from the DICE team.

Perhaps this is a method by DICE to get players to use the more underrated weapons; with the AUG, G36C, M240B and M98B dominating the current weapon demographic it is no surprise that they would give more incentive to use these lesser bullet spitting varieties. Despite this, I always wanted to see my beloved L85 receive some sprucing up from its standard black and green colouring. One can only look to the future and hope for better days. Let us hope that DICE won’t be making our favourite weapons shoot flowers in an attempt to make us use the rubbish ones.

This is not to say that I am crying about the update at all. I was disappointed as I have indeed stated, however, to look on the bright side, Premium members still have the ability to ‘stand out’ from the crowd. For me it is time to hit the Battlefield and unlock these new camouflages, starting with the L96. One head shot at a time.

  1. I was thinking if this was just a ploy to get more money out of people, still unsure before I rush out and get anything

    • I have to say Banchie, the rest of the perks are amazing, you get the next expansions included and earlier than everyone else and the smaller stuff included probably equates to the price being reasonable. It was this soldier update that was a bit disappointing.

  2. The maps are cool but as a console user for battlefield 3, the maps suffer from a smaller player limit unlike the pc version. So at times the action can be a little too quiet and empty.
